Privacy Policy

The short version: your images are never sent to us, because there is no mechanism to send them.

Your images stay on your device

PicCocoon compresses images using the Canvas API built into your browser. Your file is read from your disk into the page, re-encoded in memory, and written back to your disk when you click download. There is no upload step anywhere in that sequence, and no server-side image processing that could receive a file.

You do not have to take that on trust. Load the page, then disconnect from the internet and use the compressor: it keeps working, because nothing it does requires a network connection.

What is not collected

  • No images. There is no endpoint that accepts one.
  • No file names, sizes or metadata from the images you choose.
  • No account, email address or profile. There is nothing to sign up for.
  • No advertising identifiers and no third-party analytics scripts.
  • No cookies set by this site.

What is recorded

Like any website, the server that delivers these pages keeps standard access logs. Those logs contain the technical information a web server normally records: the IP address the request came from, the time, the page requested, the browser's user agent string and the referring page. They do not contain anything about the images you compress, because the images never reach the server.

These logs exist for operating the site: keeping it available, diagnosing faults and dealing with abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not sold or shared for advertising.

Temporary data in your browser

While you are working, the page holds your images in memory and creates temporary object URLs for the preview thumbnails and for downloads. These are released as soon as they are no longer needed: when you clear the list, when you compress a new batch, when you close the tab, and automatically after a download completes. Nothing is written to persistent browser storage, so no copy of your image is left behind after you leave the page.

External links

Some pages link to other websites. Once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy policy applies and this one no longer does.

Children

This site is a set of image utilities and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, regardless of age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. Material changes — anything affecting what is collected or where data goes — will be described here rather than made quietly.
